Winter Lunchtime

Calling All Parents:
As the cold winter months keep us indoors, we are looking for activities and items to to use during our free time at lunch.  We are asking for new or used legos, blocks, board games, dominoes, puzzles, cards (not Pokemon), Uno, art supplies (no paints), crayons, coloring books, etc…

These supplies will be collected and shared with the entire school during indoor lunch days.

Please send your donations to Mrs. Wunder and/or the main office as soon as possible.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Under New Jersey Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, the week beginning the first Monday in October of each year is designated as a “Week of Respect”.  Helen I. Smith will be participating in activities this week along with other activities that will continue throughout the year.

This year, we are changing things up a bit! We have decided to choose a year-long character education theme. Students will be participating in an assembly on Friday afternoon introducing this year’s theme: KINDNESS, as well as hearing important morning announcements about different ways to show respect and kindness throughout the week.

Continuing with our celebration of “Week of Respect”, we will be officially kicking off our Smith Spotlight program for the year! This is a new program for students and we are excited to share it with them. Smith Spotlight is a school wide program that recognizes students who go ABOVE and BEYOND demonstrating kindness.  Each month, we will recognize a different student from each homeroom.

Additionally, I will be going into each classroom for guidance lessons, focusing on the importance of good character. On Friday, we are encouraging students to wear shirts or jerseys with a number on it for “Everybody Counts Day”. Students are permitted to dress down for the day.
I am looking forward to another year working with your sons and daughters! As always, if there is anything I can do to support you or your child/children, please do not hesitate to reach out!
